Market responsiveness expands with multilingual user manuals! The key factors are high-quality translation and DTP, abundant industry case studies, and proposals for utilizing translation memory.
We would like to introduce a case of translation of the instruction manual from Japanese to English/Chinese (Simplified) for Thermos Co., Ltd.
The company felt the need for multilingual support and began to engage in translation projects in earnest. One of the challenges was that the existing instruction manuals were only in Japanese, which meant they were not adequately addressing a diverse customer base.
After the delivery of the translated instruction manuals, the support has been limited to only a few models, but the English and Chinese (Simplified) versions of the instruction manuals have been published. Although the rollout is still limited, we are definitely seeing positive effects.
[Case Overview]
■Challenges
- Due to a lack of translation experience in-house, external specialized support was needed.
■Effects
- The translation process proceeded very smoothly.
- The use of translation memory contributed to increased efficiency in some areas.
